Getting to know you. Really.

After a complimentary phone consultation, all new students meet with Alyssa or Deanna for an Initial Assessment so we can get to know your child and determine tutoring goals based on their strengths and areas for growth.  Following the Initial Assessment, we’ll make recommendations regarding the type of tutoring and content.

• General Tutoring (academic content and learning habits)

• Specialized Tutoring (Wilson, Orton-Gillingham, Reading Recovery, Speech)

• Test Prep Tutoring (ISEE, SSAT, SHSAT, NYS ELA + Math)

We’ll make the stars align.

Using what we know about your child from our consultation and Initial Assessment, we’ll select the perfect tutor from our team to work with your family. All PLA tutors are certified teachers holding Master’s degrees in the educational field, with experience working in some of the most sought after public and private NYC schools. 

One size does NOT fit all. 

Using their expertise, our tutors tailor instruction to ensure learning is engaging, targeted, and responsive. Tutors continually adjust students’ learning plans as they support them in reaching their goals.

Stay in the loop.

You’ll receive Feedback Forms that detail your child’s progress on goals and next steps with tips to support learning at home. You may also schedule conversations with your tutor for additional information. We encourage families to share this feedback with classroom teachers/service providers.
